A small software studio
Based in Xiaoshan, Hangzhou, working mainly with small and mid-sized businesses across the Yangtze River Delta. The team is small — but every project is seen through personally by the engineer who leads it.
Our story
Why we run a studio this way
CyanCode was founded in Xiaoshan, Hangzhou. The name has two readings in Chinese: the character 青 (cyan) echoes our English name, and the phrase 青码 also suggests writing code while young at heart. We wanted to run a studio that keeps a craftsperson's attitude toward software.
The team is small. Everyone has spent years in hands-on engineering, and some have led projects at larger companies. Going independent was a way to work differently: no subcontracting, no requirements relayed through layers — the client talks to the person writing the code. That keeps the feedback loop short and makes changes fast.
We work mainly with small and mid-sized businesses and institutions across the Yangtze River Delta. Projects typically run from a few hundred thousand RMB, over two to six months. Rather than taking on more at once, we'd rather do each project properly. Clients coming back for a second phase is the best review we can get.

A few things we hold to
These aren't slogans on a wall — they're the criteria we actually check decisions against during a project.
Talk to the engineers
No salespeople, no project managers relaying messages. The person who writes the code hears your requirements directly and judges feasibility directly, which cuts out a layer of loss.
Walk the process before writing code
We trace the business process through a prototype before building. Most rework isn't caused by technology falling short — it's caused by discovering, too late, that the process itself wasn't settled.
You get the source code
Every delivery includes the full source and deployment documentation. We don't lock you in. Even if we never work together again, you can maintain it yourself or hand it to someone else.
No over-promising
If something isn't achievable, we say so upfront — timeline, budget, and technical limits included. We'd rather turn down a project than take on one we can't deliver.

How we got here
2019
The studio opens
Two founders rent their first office in Xiaoshan and start out building individual modules for other teams.
2021
Moving to full project delivery
We begin taking on complete projects from requirements to launch. The first MES system goes live at a local manufacturer.
2023
Expanding into mini programs and mobile
Demand for mini programs grows sharply. We add mobile-focused engineers and form a complete Web + Mini Program + App capability.
2025
Past 40 clients
Over 60 projects delivered, mostly for small and mid-sized businesses across the Yangtze River Delta, with a repeat-business rate above 60%.

Twelve years in back-end and architecture, previously responsible for a transaction system serving tens of millions of users. Owns technology selection and overall architecture.
